Russian President Vladimir Putin: We need to develop domestic tourism
Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with members of the government said that the authorities of our country will not artificially keep inside the country citizens who want to spend holidays abroad, but Russians need to take into account the difficult situation with covid in other countries.
He noted that “some countries where tourism plays a prominent role are already announcing that they are opening up to tourists.” We certainly should not and will not artificially keep our citizens. Those of our citizens who would like to spend their holidays abroad in the summer.”
At the same time, Putin added that many Russians will probably have “reasonable fears of going anywhere.”
The head of state stressed that the task of developing domestic tourism is not removed from the agenda. According to him, it is necessary to create conditions for citizens who want to relax in Russia. “It’s clear that you won’t do that tomorrow.” We need to develop infrastructure first and foremost. This requires time, investment and support from the state. But it is clear that all programmes aimed at developing domestic tourism should be supported and developed.”
