Is Russia the Future of Ecotourism?
State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) believes that ecotourism is the future.
V. Fetisov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) said that “This is the future.” The development of regions, the support of a local entrepreneur, this will pull a lot. We must understand that ecotourism has a special status in the world, and our territory allows us to become a mecca for ecotourism.
Fetisov noted that during trips around the country he noticed a tendency that Russians travel a lot with backpacks, rubber boats – they enjoy communicating with nature. The deputy stressed that for such trips it is necessary to create infrastructure, including on Lake Baikal. At the same time, it is important to observe a certain measure so as not to destroy nature.
According to the politician, the lack of a relevant law on environmental tourism hinders the development of business in this area. Few people want to invest today in something that will be banned tomorrow.
“I understand where global tourism is heading today. Once again, this will become our major economic tool in the near future. The Far East, Siberia, the north, the south of the country, the Altai is some infinitely potential story that requires urgent legislative regulation today, the deputy said.
