The car has become the most popular mode of transport for travel in Russia, but the satisfaction of Russians with the infrastructure for auto tourism is still 3.55 points out of 5 possible.
According to the survey of the Coordination Center of the Government of the Russian Federation on the attitude of Russians to domestic tourism,
The most popular mode of transport for residents of Russia in travel on vacation in 2024 was the car (51%, + 15 p. p. by 2023), overtaking the train (48%, - 6 p. p. by 2023) and the plane (34%, - 7 p. p. by 2023).
The Cabinet of Ministers says that “the increase in the popularity of auto tourism leads to higher requirements for infrastructure for road travel – the average satisfaction rating in Russia is 3.55 points out of 5 possible.”
Earlier, the government approved the concept of development of road tourism in Russia until 2035. Its main goals are the creation of comfortable and safe conditions for traveling on roads, increasing the availability of tourist facilities and the quality of road services.
