Russian Union of Travel Industry: In the summer excursions will compete with the beaches
President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST) Andrey Ignatiev believes that in the summer of 2021 excursions to the cities of the country will be popular along with beach holidays.
“An interesting trend has emerged. In the summer, many Russians plan to visit major cities: Muscovites want to go to St. Petersburg, residents of the regions – to Moscow. We predict that prices in hotels in major cities will not rise in the summer. The price policy of hotels 3-4-5* is acceptable.
According to Ignatiev, cultural and educational tourism in 2021 will be one of the main trends that will compete with beach holidays.
“The capacities of Krasnodar Krai and Crimea were tightly filled last year. If museums and other similar places open in cities this year, the demand will be very good, as tourists are interested in trying new things.
Earlier, Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), shared her opinion, and noted that the demand for sightseeing trips in Russia in winter decreased by 30-35% due to anticove restrictions, but by spring the situation normalized.
