From September, hotels in Russia will start settling through the messenger Max

From the autumn of 2026, tourists will be able to settle in Russian hotels using the Max messenger. The innovation will first affect large accommodation facilities - those with more than 50 rooms. This was announced by Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.

If the guest does not have a passport or driver's license, check-in will be carried out through the Max system. The hotel business still has time to prepare: buy the right equipment and train staff. Currently, half of the hotels in the country have the technical ability to work with the system.

How the procedure will proceed:

  • the user opens the “Digital ID” section in the messenger profile;
  • Goes to the "Passport" tab and clicks "Present";
  • A hotel employee scans the dynamic QR code with special equipment.

After that, the guest data is automatically pulled up from the state information systems - the registration form is filled in without manual input. This will significantly accelerate the work of the reception, including during periods of high load, and will help to avoid queues.

The service will be able to use adult Russians, as well as children - when settling in with their parents. At the same time, guests have the right to choose the method of identification: you can present a paper passport or use a Digital ID.

For smaller hotels (less than 50 rooms), the connection to the system is scheduled for a later date - from September 1, 2028. They can also receive guests without a paper passport.
