How many trips are expected in Russia this year?
ATOR Vice President for Domestic Tourism Sergey Romashkin said that about 90 million tourist trips in Russia are projected in 2024, the increase in sales of hotels and tours in the summer will be at the level of 12%.
“We expect the total number of trips to be around 90 million. For three summer months, Russians (both independent and organized tourists) will make about 48 million trips around the country, or more than 53% of the estimated annual volume. At the same time, about 40% of them will be organized through tour operators and online aggregators.”
He added that the growth of tourist flow within Russia will continue. “90 million is such a good figure, which allows us to reach the planned 130-140 million tourists in five years. I think this is quite real, the expert said.
Romashkin cited aggregated data from the largest tour operators in Russia. By the end of May, up to 60% of tours in the country were implemented. The increase in sales of hotels and tours in Russia in the summer of 2024 is expected on average in the market by 12% compared to 2023, Romashkin said.
Romashkin added that the average depth of booking increased to 1-3 months before arrival.
Dmitry Chernyshenko said that in 2023, Russians made 78 million trips, which is 21% more than in 2022.
