Thailand to ease entry conditions for foreign tourists from April 1

Thailand has eased entry conditions for foreign tourists from April 1. Quarantine awaits everyone, regardless of vaccination status.

Thailand’s COVID-19 Situation Management Center (CCSA) on Friday approved new quarantine rules for overseas travelers that will take effect on April 1.

The mandatory quarantine period is reduced from 14 to 7 days for those vaccinated against COVID-19, and from 14 to 10 days for those who are not vaccinated and arrive from a country where there are no new coronavirus strains.

A 14-day quarantine is mandatory for all foreigners travelling from countries where new COVID-19 variants have been registered.

Travelers with a certificate of vaccination and a certificate of negative PCR test for COVID-19 will take a PCR test before the end of the 7-day quarantine. Vaccinated travelers without a coronavirus test result at entry will need to be tested twice during quarantine.

Those who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus will have to be tested twice for COVID-19 during a 10-day isolation.

An important condition for easing the quarantine from April 1 is allowing tourists to leave the rooms and use the amenities of the hotel.

From July 1, travelers under quarantine will be allowed to dine in restaurants and massage.

Foreigners arriving in Thailand from countries where there are reports of new variants of the virus must undergo a 14-day quarantine at an approved observatory hotel or facility, and they will have to take the COVID-19 test three times.

By October 2021, Thailand intends to remove most restrictions on international travel, and quarantine will only be required for residents of certain countries.
