Tour operators warned of fraudulent scheme in high season

At the height of the holiday season, a widespread fraudulent scheme was revealed, aimed at tourists who have already bought a tour.

According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), attackers contact organized travelers 1-2 days before departure and under the pretext of rising prices for hotels, tickets or other services require additional payment.

In doing so, criminals deliberately create a sense of urgency, prompting the victim to make a quick decision. For "additional payment" tourists are sent phishing links.

Experts emphasize that the transition to such links is not only fraught with loss of funds, but also threatens to leak payment data.

ATOR strongly recommends tourists not to trust calls from unknown persons, not to follow dubious links and not to enter personal and payment data on suspicious resources. In case of such appeals, you should not accept the words of the callers on faith, but immediately contact the manager of the travel agency where the tour was issued, or check the information on the official website of the tour operator.

Tour operators also remind that any actual changes affecting the organization of the trip are always documented and only after that payment can be made.
