In Abkhazia, the fine for a swimsuit increased 20 times
Parliament Abkhazia amended the Code of Administrative Offences, and increased the fine for appearing on the street in improper form by 20 times.
“The presence of a large number of tourists significantly adds to our budget, but we must not forget about the national mentality. Many <...> allow themselves to walk in swimsuits not only on the beaches, but also in public places, and men walk simply in shorts, with a naked torso, — stated in the explanatory note.
For being in public places, except for beaches, in swimsuits, swimming shorts or in the nude, guests and residents of Abkhazia will face a fine of 6000 rubles. Previously, this amount was 300 rubles.
The new rules are effective from August 1, 2023.
