In which case should I change my passport?

The Russian Foreign Ministry in the Telegram channel advised Russians to change their passport if the spelling of the name there does not correspond to its spelling or transliteration in other personal documents.

In a statement, the consular department of the Russian Foreign Ministry said: “In the media there are periodic publications about cases of invalidation of foreign passports due to the incorrect spelling of the names of citizens containing the letters “e” and “e”.

According to Russian laws, when issuing a passport in a consular office, the name of the applicant, which means the surname, the proper name, and also patronymic, if available, is indicated in accordance with the submitted identity document.

Earlier, Vice-President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) Georgy Mokhov reported that cases of refusals to Russian tourists to fly abroad due to errors in passports have increased, however, they are not mass.

The consular department reports: "We recommend citizens to carefully check the correctness of the name indication in the passport, the correspondence of its writing to other personal documents". >>

If discrepancies are detected, it is recommended to take measures to eliminate them: contact the authorized body for registration of a passport with the correct spelling of their own names. The early resolution of this issue will avoid trouble, in particular during passport control when crossing the state border of the Russian Federation.”
