In which country do Russians hold the leading positions in the number of arrivals?
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia reports that more than 222,000 Russian tourists visited the Maldives in 2021.
This figure is 2.7 times higher than the level of pre-pandemic 2019.
Last year, more than 1.3 million foreign tourists visited the Maldives. This is only 22.4% less than in 2019. But the number of tourists from Russia increased by 267%, or 2.7 times. Authorities recorded more than 222,000 arrivals from Russia.
The share of Russians in the total foreign tourist flow to the Maldives increased almost three and a half times to 16.8%.
In the ranking of countries by the number of guests, Russia is second, in the first place - India, from where 292,000 travelers came to the islands last year.
The largest number of our compatriots visited the Maldives in December - 17.6 thousand, which is twice more than in December 2019.
