A green passport? Russian authorities spoke about the possible renaming of QR codes
Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov called for “preserving sobriety of mind” when answering a journalist’s question about the alleged renaming of QR codes.
According to him, the codes are used in a variety of areas: advertising, banking, etc. Someone’s dislike of the word itself does not play a role: then you can think about renaming a TV, a computer, etc., because these names do not caress someone’s ear either.
The name change will not affect the essence of the phenomenon: one way or another, but this technology will be used during a pandemic.
Earlier it was reported that the authorities may decide to abandon the term “QR code”. Among the possible alternatives, the names “health passport”, “covid pass”, “green passport” were mentioned.
