Amsterdam

Amsterdam - the first acquaintance

Description:

All the most important sights of the historical center on a fascinating sightseeing tour

Amsterdam yesterday and today

During our walk, I will tell you how Amsterdam has passed a glorious and turbulent historical path for seven and a half centuries of existence: from a small village of fishermen, which arose in the XIII century at the mouth of the Amstel River, to the world's largest commercial port. You will learn where the city imported incredible wealth in the XVII century, how its further history developed and at what point Amsterdam gained fame as the freest European capital with an atmosphere of eternal celebration.

During the walk you will see all the iconic city sights: Dam Square with the famous Royal Palace, the Old Church, the monument to the oldest profession in the Red Light District, the floating flower market and the ancient Nieuwmarkt market square with the Weight Chamber, where people were once executed, the “Skinny Bridge” on the Amstel River and many other business cards of Amsterdam.

Tasting local delicacies and valuable recommendations

I will show you the oldest coffee - a shop near the narrowest street in Amsterdam, luxurious mansions of wealthy residents and a former monastery island with "hidden" churches. You walk around Chinatown with restaurants and brown cafes and the Jewish District, where Rembrandt lived and worked. Take a look at the Beginage courtyard, where the oldest building in Amsterdam is located, Spuij Square and the Flea Market. You will also admire the Amstel River, the famous canal necklace and the Skinny Bridge.

In conclusion, taste more than 30 varieties of cheese with mustard, sweet Dutch waffles, “catch herring by the tail” and taste delicious eel. Then go for a cup of coffee in one of the pleasant local establishments, where I will answer the remaining questions and advise you on what else to see in the city and where to eat. After a delicious and informative tour, Amsterdam will forever remain in your hearts!
