Excursion for real men
Description:
Dear real men, future real men, as well as loving women!
Have you ever wondered how our little Holland defended itself against its enemies? But the Netherlands fought, moreover, it managed to maintain neutrality during the First World War. It's right next to Germany!
Cunning and inventive Dutch again invented something. Which is exactly what I will show you during the tour.
It will be an amazing walk through the fortifications, you will see a well-preserved fort, as well as get a complete picture of how the defense line was organized 85 km long and totaling 46 forts.
We will visit the museum located in the "Bald Barracks" on the territory of the fort. There we will get acquainted with the geography and history of the entire fortification line.
On the territory of the fort is a stunning microclimate: the riot of nature, peace and silence. The paths of the fort are not yet trampled by tourists, because it is open to the public for only 3 years. Previously, this place was not on the map (because it belonged to the military department). At the moment, a request has been submitted to UNESCO for the inclusion of this site in the list of cultural heritage and, according to forecasts, the new water line of defense of Holland will be included in it in 2019.
Having inspected the fort on the river Fecht, we will drive by car through the area where you can see the casemates scattered in the fields (not the places where prisoners were kept, but the fortified entrances to the trenches).
For optimal use of travel time, I recommend combining this tour with a visit to the castle of De Har, because it is located very nearby. Thus, you will have material for comparing a military fort and a real residential castle, turned into a residential fairy tale in the 19th - 20th centuries using the latest achievements of technology of the time. (Again, loving women and girls will enjoy the contrast.) And to finish this day in a restaurant in Utrecht (4th city of the country and the center of education in the Netherlands), famous for its cathedral, the most important and highest in the country.
Speaking of the restaurant... there I recommend to try rosé such a stunning piercing pastel-pink color that the saliva begins to flow before you even have time to smell it.
