Rotterdam, an experimental metropolis of the future

Description:

Anyone who wants to know what the megacities will look like in thirty or forty years, should go to Rotterdam.

This city was far ahead of its time both in appearance and outlook. The buildings here are alien and unusual: on the same square, houses coexist with each other in the form of a designer, mushroom, hangar and even a sewer hatch. There is a tower resembling the mast of a ship, as well as a bridge similar to a swan. Such a number of unusual attractions will not be found in any other city in the world.

There was everything here - ups and downs, prosperity and destruction. And every time the city collapsed, the citizens rebuilt the city and grew stronger. The motto of Rotterdam is “Sterker Door Strijd!” – “Strong in Struggle!”

Rising from the ashes of Rotterdam amazes with experimental architecture and interesting sights. One of these objects is a complex of cubic houses (Kubuswoning), which was built in the mid-80s. In the house number 70 is a museum that can change your ideas about the possibilities of housing architecture. Markthal - the house of the sharpener or Sistine Chapel of Rotterdam - a collection of delicious eateries under the canopy of a residential complex with pictures on the ceiling covering an area of two football fields.

You will see a panorama of the city from the Euromast Tower. The tower was originally 107 meters high. Later, a special observation cabin was attached to it, which rotates and is able to rise to 185 meters. The whole of Rotterdam will be spread out in front of you.

Art lovers can visit the famous Museum of Boiman – van Böningen. The museum has a diverse collection, so both fans of classics and lovers of modernity will find something to see. An interesting exhibition of works by Dutch artists of the 16th-17th centuries, the collection of Salvador Dali, unique products made of porcelain and silver.

A walk around the city can be supplemented by riding on the Meuse River and in the area of the largest port in Europe by speedboat.
