Amsterdam

In 5 or 6 hours 3 cities: Zaanse Schans + Edam + Volendam

Description:

Zaanse Schans – Some time ago, enthusiasts of the movement for the preservation of ancient monuments in the Netherlands took to the territory along the banks of the Zaan River, where previously there were protective structures, various mills and other ancient structures. And, although they did not have such a goal, very quickly an open-air ethnographic museum appeared in the Zaanse Schans area.

If you want to know what the Netherlands looked like six hundred years ago, you should go to Edam, the city where the popular cheese of the same name appeared. During these centuries, Edam almost did not change, did not increase in size, but as if he fell asleep. All the same low houses, quiet medieval streets, churches, the town hall of the XV century, as well as ... a floating basement. And, of course, the main attraction of the city is the cheese market.

Volendam is a fishing village known for its unusual history and geography. You will walk along the extremely picturesque embankment, taste wonderful fish dishes and taste the famous Dutch “young” herring, as well as smoked eel, you can take photos in national costumes, you can walk on a boat.
