Church of Wester Kerk
Description:
Wester Kerk, a church built in 1619, was once considered the tallest Protestant church in the world and lost this title only in 1710, after the construction of St. Paul's Cathedral in London the same year.
Today, the bell tower of the church, whose height is eighty-five meters, is the highest in the city. Also in the church of Wester Kerk is the largest of the naves available in the Dutch Protestant churches.
It is believed that Rembrandt was buried here, but his grave has not yet been found.
The church has two observation decks - at an altitude of 42 and 67 meters. Tourists are allowed only on the bottom. At the same time, it is not so easy to get on a tour - due to the difficulties of climbing, no more than 6 people are allowed inside at the same time. However, the breathtaking view of the whole city that opens from the site is really worth climbing up there.
