Lindengracht Market

Lindengracht, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Description:

The Lindengracht Market, which opened in 1895, is one of the best markets in Amsterdam. It is located in the Jordan quarter on Lindengracht Street, after which it is named, which translates as “fake canal”, because the whole street is decorated with high lindens.

The market, which is 900 meters long, includes 232 counters and it is open only on Saturdays from 9 a.m., so it is better to come here by noon, when all the counters open. Here you can buy many different things: from food to wardrobe items, various media equipment, sports goods and much more.

In its center you can see a sculptural composition depicting Theo Teissen - a famous writer, teacher and public figure. There is also the opportunity to visit a variety of attractive cafés or take a peek at the beautiful flower shop on Prinsegracht 8.
