Hog Weluw Park

40 km from the town of Arnhem. You can get there by bus.

Description:

National Park in the province of Gelderland. The area of the park exceeds 5000 hectares, and its main attraction is the diversity of the landscape. There are open sands, moorlands, coniferous forests and wetlands. After traveling 15 kilometers from north to south of the park, you can see how the fields are replaced by dunes, between which birches or coniferous trees grow.

The park's fauna is also interesting. Now on its territory live such rare animals as spotted deer and mouflon. They are listed in the Red Book, and Hog Velyuv is one of the few places where they live in natural conditions.

It is the only national park in the Netherlands that charges an entrance fee. The proceeds are invested in improving the ecology of the park. To travel on Hog Velyuv, tourists are provided with special white bicycles free of charge.
