Velserenderlaan 2, 2082 LA Santpoort-Zuid.

Description:

Brerod Castle is located in the province of North Holland, not far from the city of Breda. It was founded in the second half of the XIII century by Wilhelm Brerod. To build the castle, it was necessary to uproot a lot of trees in a large area. Initially, the castle consisted of only one tower, which was destroyed in 1300. After that, it was decided to build a square-shaped castle.

During hooks and cod, the Dutch Civil War, the castle was besieged by Gisbert Ninrod. After the surrender, the castle was so damaged that it had to be demolished.

After the signing of a peace treaty between the warring parties, the castle was rebuilt.

In 1573, during the siege of Haarlem, the castle was again looted, destroyed and burned. Only in the XIX century, by order of the civil service, the ruins of the castle were restored. At the moment, Brerod Castle is a national monument of the Netherlands.
