Van Abbe Museum
Bilderdijklaan 10, 5611 NH Eindhoven, Netherlands
About the company:
The Dutch Van Abbe Museum is considered “the most left-wing museum in Europe”, because it simultaneously presents the largest collection outside the former USSR of El Lissitzky and other authors of the former socialist camp, and also because the director of the museum, Charles Eshe, is close to left-wing beliefs. In addition, the museum allocates jobs to artists and allows ordinary museum workers to curate exhibitions based on the museum's collection.
The small red-brick building of the museum looks like a cruiser at the pier of a military fort. Inside the museum, everything is arranged in red and white colors, and one of the floors is completely devoted to constructivism and related currents.
The director of the museum constantly cooperates with local artists, involving them in various museum programs. Here, each visitor can independently organize his own exhibition, using works from storage facilities.
