Madurodam Miniature Park

George Maduroplein 1

Description:

A miniature park and a miniature city at the same time. It is a model of a Dutch city on a scale of 1:25, consisting of typical Dutch buildings and structures, the originals of which are located in different parts of the Netherlands. Models are made mainly of plastic, for green spaces of the mini-city real plants are used, mainly small-leaved trees and shrubs, whose height does not exceed 60 centimeters.

More than 700 models of buildings, mills, bridges, cars, trains and other objects are presented in Madurodam. Many of them are supplemented by mechanical figurines and machines: tanks drive at a military base, a procession accompanying the bride at the church, barges swim along the canals. On the streets of the mini-city you can count about 13,000 figures of people, each of them made by hand.

Another attraction of Madurodam is the largest miniature railway in the world. Its length is about 4 kilometers. Every day it rides up to 12 different trains, and for the year each train travels up to 20,000 kilometers.

Madurodam was built in 1952 and has since been visited by tens of millions of tourists.
