Wateringen Manor

Netherlands, South Holland, Westland.

Description:

Wateringen Manor is a cultural center in the area of the municipality of Wateringen, as well as a monument under state protection. Once in the XI century, a castle was built here. In 1200, Lord Wateringen completed the construction of his castle. Then the castle was waiting for a difficult fate, it was destroyed, it was restored, turning it into a manor, where for some time monks lived, consisting of the Dutch version of the Benedictine Order, who came from France.

In the following centuries, the estate was sold several times until the municipality of Wateringen bought the land and farm in 1951. In 1982, the building of the estate was completely restored, and the park surrounding the building was put in order.
