Verhildersum Castle

Wierde 40 9965 TB Leens, Netherlands

Description:

Verhildersum is an ancient small castle located east of the town of Liins in the Dutch province of Groningen. Around the one-storey brick mansion there are 32 hectares of land belonging to it. A bridge leads to the main entrance.

Around Verhildersum there is a water channel and beautiful gardens, made in Renaissance and Baroque styles, are broken. There are more than ninety species of roses and fifty species of lomonoses (klematis).

The name "Verhildersum" means "the house of a noble woman named Hilder", but history is silent about why the castle was named and when this woman lived.
