Museum of Art and Science - Taylor Museum
Teylers Museum, Spaarne 16 2011 CH Haarlem
About the company:
The building, which is now allotted to the museum, used to belong to Scottish-born banker Peter Taylor van der Hulst. As a rich man, he bequeathed his fortune to the advancement of religion, science, and art. His will was fulfilled - the money was divided into the development of societies engaged in science, art and religion, and in honor of this Samaritan named the courtyard located next to the museum building.
The museum now houses unique paintings, including works by Michelangelo and Rembrandt, an equally unique exhibit of fossils, including the first Archaeopteryx, as well as scientific instruments, medals, and coins.
In December 2011, the museum was nominated for the title of UNESCO Cultural Heritage.
