Warmond Manor

Netherlands, South Holland, Leiden, the village of Warmond.

Description:

The estate of the XVIII century Varmond is located in the province of South Holland in the eponymous village of Warmond north of the city of Leiden. On this site since 1250 was a defensive fortress, destroyed later, so there are still small traces of medieval architecture. In the XV and XVI centuries, new buildings were built directly on the medieval foundation. In 1780, the castle was completely rebuilt in the form that can be seen today.

The reconstruction affected the entire building, only the number of floors and proportions of the room were preserved. The walls were plastered, so the castle completely lost its medieval appearance, and began to look more like classical mansions.
