Zuidvik Castle

Description:
The first mention of the Dutch castle of Suidvik dates back to 1406. The castle has been resold several times since then. until its owner becomes the famous Admiral Jacob van Vassener Obdam, after whom the village where the castle is located became known.
One of the subsequent owners of the Wassener family greened the area around the castle, set up gardens and dug several ponds, some of them still remain.
Now Zuidvik Castle is a private property and belongs in its management to Twiskel Castle. The owners of the castle have organized a fund that helps to keep these castles in proper condition, preserving both the historical appearance of the buildings and the natural landscapes around them.
