Maritime Museum in Rotterdam
About the company:
The Maritime Museum of Rotterdam was founded in 1874 and today is the oldest maritime museum in the Netherlands, and is also one of the five best maritime museums in the world. The museum’s collection is based on exhibits that Prince Henry collected in the middle of the XIX century.
Today, the museum houses more than half a million items related to the sea or shipbuilding. Among them, for example, more than 6500 models of ancient and modern ships, 2000 designs, nautical maps, atlases, navigation tools, ship equipment and much more.
The exterior exposition is especially interesting, which, in fact, is a separate open-air museum. Here, several ships are presented to visitors. In some of them you can even climb inside and see with your own eyes how the ship is arranged. One of the most valuable exhibits is the battering vessel of the XIX century “Buffalo”, recreated in its original form.
