Boymans van Böningen Museum

Museumpark 20, 3015 CX Rotterdam, Nederland

About the company:

The museum was established in 1847, after Frans Jacob Boymansan bequeathed his extensive private collection to the city. Almost a century later, in 1958, it was replenished with items from the collection of the wealthy entrepreneur Daniel Georg van Böningen. After that, the museum received its modern double name.

The central exposition of the museum includes works by world-famous artists: Hieronymus Bosch, Jan van Eyck, Rubens, Jacob Jordaens, Rembrandt, Vincent van Gogh.

In the pre-war years, the museum became infamous for numerous acquisitions of forgeries masterfully executed by Han van Megeren.
