Bolenstein Castle
Description:
Bolenstein Castle is located in the Dutch city of Riederhof, Utrecht province.
The first mention of the castle dates back to 1340, and most likely it was built by the family of Derk Bohlen. In 1438, the castle was sold to the knight Otto Snaf, whose family owned the castle until the nineteenth century, when it was bought by John Farouse. Then, in 1942, the castle was sold to the municipality of the city, which placed apartments there for police and employees. Eventually, in 2006, the castle was acquired by real estate mogul Dirk Palberg. There he placed offices and office space.
As of the XVII century, the castle was a building with a double hull and double pediments, on its sides there were four stone pipes with weather vanes on top. In 1825, they were replaced by square clock towers, and the walls were plastered and painted. In 1960, a major restoration of the castle took place, after which it acquired its modern appearance.
