Description:

Groeneveld Castle is currently owned by the Ministry of Economy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and is located in the province of Utrecht, the city of Baarn.

The castle was built in 1710, in the Baroque style, and was originally used as a summer estate for wealthy citizens of the province. The first permanent owner of the castle was Marcus Mumshet, he decided to expand his possession in 1696, but abandoning all ideas, in 1710 sold the estate. Then the estate was owned by several wealthy merchants, after which, in 1760, the castle was bought by Lucas van Dassen. It was he who completed two semicircular wings in the building, and turned the castle into its modern appearance.

The estate around the castle stretches for 130 hectares. Today, around the castle there is a garden made in the English style, there are many water objects, alpine slides, winding green paths and tonsured trees.

On the territory of the castle is one of the three Dutch wood museums.
