Woolwen Castle
Netherlands, Utrecht, LV Houten.
Description:
Woolwen Castle is located in the Netherlands, in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It was founded in 1296 by Ernest Woolwen.
The building was located south of Mott Cherry Castle and east of Old Woolwen Castle. In 1345, the owner of Woolwen took part in a rebellion, which destroyed his castle. Over time, the building was rebuilt in an even more impressive form.
Woolwen is a monumental monument to the Netherlands, finally demolished in 1832 by Baron Virdestine. Once there was a wooden structure - a fortified three-storey house with a triangular roof and a tower. The castle was surrounded by a pond, through which a bridge was laid adjacent to the extension of the building. Nowadays, on the territory of Woolwen there is a modern restaurant.
