Woolvenhorst Castle

Netherlands, Urtrecht.

Description:

Woolvenhorst is a castle located in the Netherlands, in the Dutch province of Urtrecht, near the house of Verdun. It was built in 1271, its first owner was the knight Gieselbertus.

After his death, the house passed into the possession of Vulen van der Horst, who named the castle in his honor, shortening the name.

In 1418 the building was destroyed, but in 1421 it was reconstructed and used as a chapel. This is a two-storey brick building with a triangular roof and a small annex. To date, the fortified house is a ruin, one of the monumental monuments of the Netherlands.
