Fort Pharwala
Bagh Jogian Rd, Bagh Jogian, Pakistan
Description:
One of the many architectural attractions of Pakistan is the historic Fort Pharwala, located near the city of Islamabad. It was built at the beginning of the XV century on the ruins of an ancient fortress dating from the beginning of the X century. Its main purpose was to protect the territory from Sikh raids. During its history, the fort has suffered many troubles, it has been destroyed and rebuilt more than once. Unfortunately, only its ruins have survived.
Previously, the main entrance to the fortress was the northwest gate, but now they are in a dilapidated state, so tourists enter Pharwala through a small gate at the end of the southeast wall. Inside the fortress grow centuries-old banyan trees, there is no electricity, and the road to the building littered with huge stones. There is still a small community of people who call themselves Kiani Gakhar.
Every year this place attracts many tourists and archaeologists. Here are often found valuable artifacts and treasures.
