Pakistan Monument Rd, Islamabad, Pakistan

Description:

One of the most popular architectural landmarks of Islamabad is the Pakistan Monument, a national memorial symbolizing the country’s four provinces and three counties. The monument was designed by the famous local architect Arif Masood, its grand opening took place in Shakarparian Square in March 2007.

The construction of the Pakistan Monument lasted almost three years. Its structure is unique in its own way: it is made in the form of a huge blossoming flower, four petals of which symbolize the provinces of Pakistan, and the other three represent Azad Kashmir, the Zone of Tribes and Gilgit-Baltistan. This monument commemorates the feat of brave warriors who participated in the Pakistan movement and gave their lives for future generations. On the inside of the petals are engraved beautiful murals created by a group of artists led by Kausar Jahan and Zarar Haider, who spent a total of about 119,000 hours on these works of art.
