Puno Day in Peru

Description:

Lake Titicaca
Indian legend says that the ancestors of the Incas - Manco Capac and his sister and wife Mama Oclio came out of the waters of Lake Titicaca and founded the city. They were looking for a place where Manco Capac's golden staff would enter the ground. Finding it, they founded the city of the Incas.

Manco Capac, according to the oral Inca tradition, the first Inca, the son of the Sun and the Moon; was sent by the Sun to Earth to save people from barbarism and mutual extermination, to teach agriculture and crafts and to establish the cult of the "authentic" gods: the Sun, the Moon and the "creator of the world" - Pachacamac.

By tradition, Puno Day is held in the city of the same name on Lake Titicaca.
