Inti Raimi in Peru

Description:

It's a sun worship festival.
This holiday is an ancient Inca ritual of worship of the sun, the main god of the Incas. It's called Inti Raymi. This is a sign of the coming of the crown of the year of the Incas and the imminent harvest, which, if the gods so desire, will be abundant.

It's a reborn ancient holiday. Despite the fact that this holiday is ancient, nowadays interest in the Inca past has increased, and Quechua is declared the second official language of Peru.

To enjoy the colorful spectacle of the popular folklore holiday, thousands of tourists from different parts of the world come to Cusco on this significant day.

The ceremony of meeting and worshiping the Sun is held in the Inca capital of Cusco and in the ancient fortress of Sacsayhuaman. In honor of the holiday, a theatrical performance “Inti Raimi” is arranged: professional artists also participate in it. Amateur groups participate in mass scenes.

Pictures of the past come to life before the audience. The Supreme Inca appears. He worships the sun, thanks it for the harvest of the past year, and asks for abundance of earthly fruits in the future.

And then, after the celebration, the participants return to the villages. Their faces are impenetrable. They remembered everything they saw in Cusco, down to the smallest detail, to tell their loved ones. The restrained nature of the Indian does not allow us to talk about the holiday much and violently. The stories in the evenings will be enough for a whole year.
