Lima Founding Week in Peru

Description:

Lima, capital of Peru
The city of Lima is known as the City of Kings. When the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro founded Lima on January 18, 1535, he considered the place extremely inhospitable and did not anticipate that this city would become the political and military capital of Peru, would see the reign of 40 viceroys, and would be declared the capital of independent Peru in 1821.

ЮНЕСКО объявило Лиму достоянием культурного наследия человечества
UNESCO declares Lima a heritage of humanity

It was here that the majestic cathedrals and luxurious mansions of the Spanish nobility were erected, the palace of the Viceroy, and much that gave Lima a peculiar charm of past colonial times, which exists to this day.

In 1991, UNESCO declared Lima a heritage site because the city retained its colonial architecture.
