The capital of the island - Funchal - is illuminated by 250 thousand multi-colored lanterns. It's very beautiful, bright, festive! Locals and tourists pour into the street, fill restaurants and bars.
From 8 p.m. until the morning, a grand festive show takes place on Funchal’s waterfront, and when the clock strikes midnight, the sky over Madeira is lit up with colorful fireworks.
Noisy festivities with fireworks take place, of course, in Lisbon.
