Évora

Evora is the pearl of Alentejo

Description:

Evora is a city located 130 km southeast of the Portuguese capital Lisbon, standing on a low hill among the plains of Alentejo. This is one of the most interesting and rich historical and architectural monuments of the cities of Portugal. It is the unrecognized capital of late medieval Portugal. At one time, such kings as Manuel 1, João 2 and others loved this city.

It is no coincidence that its old part is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The old part of the historic city is hidden behind the fortress walls that have survived to this day. In the city we will find a variety of architectural styles that prove the antiquity of this settlement, and, subsequently, the city: the only Roman temple in Portugal, the cathedral, one of the oldest architectural monuments in Portugal in the Roman Gothic style, monuments of the late Neolithic-cromlech Almedres, Borocco, Manueline, etc.

Walk through the old streets of the city, through the old squares and you will not leave indifferent this beautiful city!!!
