About the company:
The small town of Evora is inscribed in large letters in the history of Portugal. In the XV - XVI centuries, kings chose it as the seat of the court. The royal palace is still preserved here, which now hosts exhibitions and concerts. The majestic cathedral deserves close attention, in which, in addition to numerous relics, the Museum of Religious Art is located - one of the main city attractions.
Evora Cathedral is the largest medieval temple in Portugal. Its construction began in 1186 and was completed only in 1250. The grand building of gray granite - a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic styles - proudly rises above the low houses. Inside the cathedral is decorated with decorative elements in the Baroque style, some elements are made of marble. Here is the oldest organ in Portugal, established in the XVI century.
The Museum of Religious Art is located in one of the towers of the cathedral. Its collection is quite extensive and includes a number of unique exhibits. The rarest exhibit is a triptych, made in the XII century of ivory and decorated with intricate carvings depicting scenes from the life of the Holy Virgin Mary. During a visit to the museum, tourists can climb to the roof, which offers a magnificent panorama of the city.
