Sisi Monument

d. Funchal, Madeira, Portugal.

Description:

The Sisi Monument is located in the heart of Funchal, Madeira. In fact, this girl, in whose honor the monument was erected, was called Elizabeth of Bavaria, and the affectionate nickname "Sisi" gave her her only and beloved husband - Emperor Franz Joseph.

Elizabeth of Bavaria was an unusually beautiful lady. The delicate camp, charming facial features were sung by artists and sculptors both during the life of the Empress and after her death. Despite the wonderful beauty and love for her husband, which Cece retained throughout her life, her fate was very sad. Poor physical and mental health, a tendency to depression and anorexia, as well as constant conflicts with her mother-in-law forced her to abandon her beloved spouse and children and go traveling. So the Empress was in Madeira, where today stands her monument. On the island, Sisi recovered, but she did not stay in Portugal for long. Throughout the rest of her life, the beauty was waiting for travel and only rare meetings with her beloved husband.

Sisi Monument in Funchal still attracts sentimental tourists and just those who are not indifferent to history.
