Fortress
Description:
Elegant and elegant fortress gates are located in the wall of the town of Obidos - a small pearl of Leiria County, in Portugal. As a city and port, Obidos gained importance in 1282. Later, the castle was strengthened by fortress walls, in which these amazing gates were built, but the sea retreated from these places, and the town lost its strategic purpose. Now the city of Obidos gives us a unique opportunity to plunge into the atmosphere of the Middle Ages.
The gate in the fortress wall is decorated with a panel of azulejos - this is a traditional Portuguese painted clay tiles. The gate is called Porta da Vila and leads to the historic part of the city. Passing through the gate, we get to the fork of three roads - one central, the second - outlying, and the third - a staircase to the fortress wall.
The gates themselves are worthy of admiration, and the town that opens behind them is fabulous, puppet, medieval. Snow-white two-storey houses, entwined with roses, gardenias, fuchsia, narrow streets, silence, cleanliness, and a pleasant light smell of smoke from the fireplace.
