Alexinsky Art and Local Lore Museum

In the Aleksinsky district there is the famous “Alexinsky Museum of Local Lore”. It was founded in 1974, but the first visitors entered in 1980. The museum is located in the historical center of the city in an ancient manor, in a three-storey mansion of merchants of the first Maslov guild. The mansion is an architecture of the late 18th - early 19th centuries.
The main directions of the museum are the activities of exposition and exhibition and cultural and educational, editorial and publishing, information and propaganda, stock and methodical.

The fund of the museum is more than 25 thousand materials of storage of scientific, auxiliary and basic funds. Here are presented collections: archaeological, geological, paleontological, numismatic. As well as a collection of graphics, paintings, sculptures, a huge number of household and ethnography items, decorative and applied art products and, of course, memorial materials that are dedicated to famous countrymen such as Lviv, Stechkin, Shchedrin, General Korotkov, Zoya Voskresenskaya, etc. The museum collections are replenished with hundreds of exhibits every year.

“Alexinsk Museum of Local Lore” in addition to its main exhibition activities conducts extensive cultural and educational activities. There are constantly held literary and musical meetings, creative competitions, theatrical performances, cognitive quizzes, meetings of veterans, various presentations of exhibitions, etc.
For primary school students and garden pupils, classes are provided by the pedagogy department of the museum on various topics: “Traditions of Russian Tea Party”, “Russian Traditional Costume”, “Russian Hut”, “Miracle-bag and spindle”, “Living Clay”, “Forge business”, etc.
