Resp. Crimea, Alushta, Sergeev-Tsensky St., 5

About the company:

The museum is located in a picturesque place in the western part of Alushta, which is called Professor's Corner. At an altitude of 100 meters above the sea on the Eagle Mountain among the greenery of cypresses there is a small house - the creative workshop of the outstanding writer, academician, doctor of philological sciences Sergey Nikolaevich Sergeev-Tsensky (1875-1958). For more than half a century, the “lord of verbal secrets”, as M. Gorky called him, lived in the Crimea, believing that Alushta is a fairly secluded, and at the same time beautiful in natural and climatic terms, corner of the Crimea. It was here that Sergeyev-Tsensky wrote most of his works, the epic “The Transfiguration of Russia”, the epic about the Crimean War “Sevastopol Strada” and many others. In 1962, a literary and memorial museum was established in the writer’s house after his death. The writer’s widow donated the estate, a house with furnishings, a unique library and archive to the city. The exposition of the museum has two sections: literary and memorial. The literary section of the exposition introduces visitors to the life and work of the writer. In the memorial part of the museum, the situation remains the same as it was during the life of the writer. The museum guests are interested in photographs, awards, valuable exhibits of applied art and paintings by famous artists. An integral part of the estate of S.N. Sergeev-Tsensky is a memorial park surrounding the writer’s house. Like sentries, pyramidal cypresses stand here, an almond grove blooms in early spring, fruit trees grown by S.N. Sergeev-Tsensky grow and bear fruit. Not far from the house, “on the mountain where the noise of the sea is heard”, a monument on the writer’s grave is buried in the shadow of evergreen shrubs. As part of the GBUK RK "Alushta Literary and Memorial Museum of S.N. Sergeev-Tsensky" the Museum-Estate of A.N. Beketov (since 1987) and the Museum of the writer I.S. Shmelev (since 1993) function as departments.
