Demerdzhi (Ukrainian Demirdzhi, Crimean-Tat. Demirci, Demirdzhi) is a river in the Crimea, on the territory of the Alushta City Council, 13 kilometers long with a basin area of 53.4 km2, an average annual water flow of 0.217 m3 / s, 7 tributaries near the river. The source of the river is located on the southwestern slope of the Demerdzhi massif, at the foot of Pakhkal-Kaya mountain, at an altitude of about 900 m. The river valley, which has a strong slope in the upper reaches and is more like a gorge, is almost treeless, composed of clay slates. The river is characterized by sharp flash floods, mudflows occur (the 1997 flood had a water consumption of more than 100 m3 / s). To protect against floods in 1986, 8 km from the mouth, was built Kutuzov reservoir volume of 1.11 million m3.
In the lower reaches, the valley expands somewhat, connecting with the neighboring Ulu-Uzen valley and flows through Alushta, flowing into the Black Sea in the eastern part of the city.
