Bakhchisarai region of Crimea is rich in rock monasteries. On the local mountain slopes you can find many traces left by our ancestors. On the right bank of the river near the village of Predushlennoe, archaeologists found a parking lot of an ancient man of the late Paleolithic era. Tourists this place is known as the Kachin canopy. Not far from it at the spring - another parking lot of the Late Bronze Age. Here were found unique cave paintings of the Kemi-Obin culture - Tash Air (Single stone). A little further are the remains of the Cachi-Kalion cave monastery. The earliest traces of human presence here date back to the IV century. The ancient settlement on the banks of Kachi arose not by chance. This is where the crossroads of trade roads were located. The main route went through the Kibit-Bogaz pass and connected the southwestern part of the peninsula with the southern coast of Crimea. The canyon turned out to be a very convenient place for a stop and served as a shelter for travelers and traders. The valley of the river Kachi on both sides "embrace" the rocks. Kachin Gate is the narrowest and most fascinating place. Here plumbs, entwined with ivy, hang over the road itself. The stone space is covered with cells of unusual shape. They resemble the black eyes of a huge monster. In fact, this is the result of limestone weathering. Nature has created an ideal place for a monastic monastery. Dark quiet grottoes are the best suited for solitary prayer and hermit life. There is everything for a modest life, and the main source of water. It is no coincidence that over the settlement in a large grotto with a spring in the VIII-X centuries there is a monastery.
