Birobidjan and EAA
Description:
The Jewish Autonomous Region, founded at the dawn of the formation of the USSR, became the first territory officially assigned to the Jewish people in many centuries of persecution and oppression.
Here, in rich but inaccessible lands, Jews from all over the world came, and many found a real home and homeland. And it was here that a special culture and life of the inhabitants of the EAO, carved out by the harsh Far Eastern climate, appeared.
Residents of the EAO, sympathetic, beautiful people, carefully support the culture of their ancestors, who with such difficulty won land from forests and water.
On the way to Birobidzhan, we will pass through the Amur Bridge, nicknamed the Amur Miracle and flaunting on the 5,000 bill, we will stop at the Volochaevskaya Hill, the place of the decisive battle in the civil war and a modern museum dedicated to the events of those days.
Birobidzhan always surprises with a combination of amazing peace, purity and order. Beautiful embankment with interesting sculptures, a unique Philharmonic building, the only newspaper in the world, issued in 2 languages - Russian and Yiddish. Street names are also duplicated in Yiddish. The synagogue and the most interesting museum of Jewish studies, where you will learn who Jews are and what traditions are alive in the modern Jewish world. The local history museum and, of course, the kosher kitchen.
