Museum of Contemporary Art EAO

The Museum of Contemporary Art EAO was opened in April 1989 as a branch of the Far Eastern Art Museum of Khabarovsk. Since 1996 it has been an independent organization.

The formation of the collection began with the opening - since 1989. The first exhibit was a painting by Krasnoyarsk artist Oleg Firer “The Sign of the Testament”, which marked the beginning of the collection “The Old Testament through the eyes of modern artists” – the visiting card of the museum and the first collection of this kind in Russia. The museum funds store paintings of Far Eastern authors and artists of the EAO.

The museum held the first exhibition of computer graphics and photography in the field, in which all residents of the EAO could take part, regardless of age and availability of art education. There are various forms of exhibition activities: personal, group, children’s, from museum funds, exhibitions of one day and one painting. The average museum exhibition changes 1 time per month
