Ikshin reservoir
Russia, Moscow region, Iksha settlement
Description:
Ikshi reservoir is located in the Moscow region and got its name because of the small village of Iksha.
When in 1937 the Soviet authorities decided to create a reservoir that would provide clean water to the city of Moscow and the nearest suburbs, the reservoir had only technical significance.
Over time, sanatoriums, rest houses, hotels, sports clubs began to appear on the banks of the Ikshi reservoir, which turned it into a country recreation center. And this is not surprising - beautiful nature, clean air have always attracted residents of megacities who want to relax from the hustle and bustle of a large, dirty and noisy city.
Sometimes you can hear that the area near the reservoir is called "Russian Switzerland" - there are a lot of ski resorts here.
Ikshinskoe reservoir is famous not only for its wonderful rest in nature, but also for its hunting and fishing. Fishermen can be seen here both in summer, especially near the village of Yermolino and at the confluence of the Koteshka River, and in winter, when the time for ice fishing begins.
